Featured Choreographer: Trina Cardamone

trina2Senior MCDE member Trina Cardamone is choreographing a contemporary piece to “Like People Do” for this spring semester’s showcase. This dance wasn’t inspired by anything in particular but Trina’s love for the song motivated her to use her fluid motions to create a beautiful piece of art.

When she is dancing to “Like People Do,” Trina imagines a perfect day in the sun with people in love. Trina has been dancing since she was three, started competing in elementary school, and since then she couldn’t stop. She noted that her time spent in the studio really defined her childhood. She developed her own style once she came to Marist and began choreographing. This is her fourth semester choreographing and she is hoping to end on a high note with this piece.  trina

Classes are going well so far, according to Trina. She is highly encouraging of her dancers, saying that “I’m a little crazy, so having them come each week and put in so much effort has been so gratifying.” One of her biggest challenges is figuring out how to translate her vision. “But I feel so lucky this semester to have such an incredible group because they’re attacking the movements and giving it their all and it has been so rewarding.” It is safe to say that Trina and her amazing choreography will be missed next year.

If you don’t recognize Trina from her dancing and choreography, you may recognize her as an MCDE E-Board member. Trina has been a board member since her sophomore year and shadowed during her freshman year. She serves as the MCDE Secretary and keeps all of the club’s members up to date with anything and everything they may need to know.

Make sure to see Trina’s vision come to life at the spring showcase April 18th and 19!
